NHTSA Updates Cybersecurity Practices for New Vehicles

NHTSA released its new Cybersecurity Best Practices for the Safety of Modern Vehicles today. This is an update to NHTSA's 2016 Cyber guidelines. Included in the Serviceability section is the following:

 

NHTSA recognizes the balance between third-party serviceability and cybersecurity is not necessarily easy to achieve. However, cybersecurity should not become a reason to justify limiting serviceability. Similarly, serviceability should not limit strong cybersecurity controls” (pg. 13).
