Congressman Rush Withdraws Vehicle Data Access Amendment

Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL) withdrew his proposed amendment to H.R. 3684, the INVEST in America Act. The amendment would have "established a right to repair for motor vehicle owners". Congressman Rush withdrew the amendment prior to debate early this week after it faced opposition from motor vehicle manufacturers.

The INVEST in America Act is the surface transportation reauthorization for 2021. The legislation provides funding for transportation and infrastructure, including funding for electric vehicle adoption and electric vehicle charging stations. The legislation must be passed by September 30, which is the date when current funding runs out.
