Antitrust Modernization Commission Continues Hearings

    The Antitrust Modernization Commission (AMC) held a hearing March 21, 2006 with Thomas O. Barnett, assistant attorney general for the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, and Deborah Platt Majoras, chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), testifying.

ASA Member Testifies at House Committee on Energy and Commerce Hearing

    The House Committee on Energy and Commerce held a hearing regarding Right to Repair legislation on Nov. 10, 2005. The subcommittee heard testimony of several witnesses, including Steve Brotherton of Continental Imports in Gainesville, Fla. Brotherton testified to the committee on behalf of the Automotive Service Association (ASA).

House Small Business Committee Hearing on H.R. 2048 - June 2005

    The U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Subcommittee on Workforce, Empowerment and Government Programs held a hearing on H.R. 2048, the Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act in June 2005. The transcript of that hearing is now available.

ASA Collision Director Testifies at NCOIL Hearing on Aftermarket Parts Certification Legislation

    Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Division Director Darrell Amberson, AAM, testified before the Property and Casualty Insurance Committee at the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) Summer Meeting in Rhode Island on aftermarket crash parts.

ASA Testifies Before House Small Business Subcommittee on Workforce, Empowerment and Government Programs

    Eddie Ehlert, owner of Mazdonly Ltd. in Chamblee, Ga., testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Subcommittee on Workforce, Empowerment and Government Programs on H.R. 2048, the Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act.

Allstate v. Abbott Trial - Texas Insurer-Owned Repair Shops

    Closing arguments were presented in the Allstate v. Abbott trial on Texas' new insurer-owned repair shop on October 19, 2004. District Judge Ed Kinkeade said a ruling would be made as quickly as possible.

ASA Testifies Before the U.S. House of Representative Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce

    The U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protections held a hearing entitled, "Repairing the 21st Century Car: Is Technology Locking the Consumer Out." Testifying for the Automotive Service Association (ASA) were ASA's Vice President of Service Repair Markets, Bill Haas and ASA Colorado member Donny Seyfer.

ASA, ASC Testify at Michigan Senate Insurance Committee Hearing on Insurer-Owned Repair

    ASA and the Automotive Service Councils of Michigan (ASC-MI) testified before the Michigan Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee on Senate Bill 819, Insurer Owned Repair legislation. ASA's Washington, D.C. Representative Bob Redding testified on behalf of ASA.
