ASRW Early Bird Registration Extended Until Oct. 1

Early-bird pricing for online registration for ASA's two trade shows, the Congress of Automotive Service and Repair (CARS) and the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE), has been extended until Thursday, Oct. 1, with no increase in prices over 2008 fees for packages and sessions.

ASA Legislative Update

 

New Co-Sponsors Sign On to Repeal McCarran-Ferguson Act
U.S. Rep. Louise McIntosh Slaughter, D-N.Y., chairwoman of the Rules Committee, and U.S. Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y., have signed on as co-sponsors to House Bill 1583, legislation that would repeal the McCarran-Ferguson Act. ASA hosted a Capitol Hill Fly-In in July to show support for this bill. Jeff BlyBly Named ASA's Top Recruiter,
Chairman's Club Winner for 2009

ASA has announced the winner of its 2009 Chairman's Club Award, the association's grassroots member recruitment program. This year's recipient is Jeff Bly of Maywood Transmission Inc., an ASA member-business in Independence, Mo. The Chairman's Club award honors ASA members who recruited or provided leads for prospective shops to become members of the association.

I-CARI-CAR to Introduce New Courses at NACE
The Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) recently announced it will introduce two new classes, Damage Analysis of Advanced Automotive Systems (DAM07) and Collision Repair for General Motors (GM) Vehicles (GEN03) at the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE), to be held Nov. 4-7, 2009, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas. EPA, NHTSA Propose National Fuel Economy, GHG Program
U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson have announced a national program to improve fuel economy and reduce greenhouse gases. The program will be an interagency program to address climate change and energy security. AMI Announces 2009 Scholarship Recipients
AutoInc.The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) has announced the recipients of three scholarships, with each scholarship winner receiving $1,000 to be used toward attending CARS or NACE in Las Vegas, Nov. 4-7.

John Fugate is the recipient of this year’s “BodyShop Business Magazine Scholarship," Scott Schaefer is the recipient of this year’s Richard Cossette/Gale Westerlund Memorial Scholarship and Chris Pfefferle is the recipient of the “Tom B.
