ASA President’s Message, News Releases Going Online

Bedford, Texas, April 22, 1996 --- The monthly President’s Message from the Automotive Service Association (ASA) will be made available on the ASA World Wide Web Site on the Internet beginning with May’s message, which will be online by May 10. In addition, all 1996 ASA consumer and trade news releases will be available online by May 10, and future news releases will be added on an ongoing basis.

“The decision was made to put the President’s Message online to ensure that ASA members have immediate access to this information, which is significant since the messages address not only issues of concern, but also the general goals and plans of ASA,” said G.W. “Bud” Merwin, III, president and chief staff executive of ASA.

“Having ASA news releases available online is extremely beneficial since ASA members and others in the industry will have immediate access to information concerning the major issues confronting ASA and the industry as a whole,” said Merwin. “It is also beneficial in that anyone, anytime, can access the ASA Web Site, and those who do not have the benefit of reading all of the news releases or president’s messages in printed form can access them in one convenient place,” he said.

The ASA Web Site contains detailed information about ASA in general; consumer research; ASA membership benefits; consumer automotive tips; ASA-sponsored events; official ASA positions and legislative objectives; an online version of AUTOINC.; a listing of ASA associate and educational members; a listing of ASA state affiliate groups and the Automotive Service Association Management Institute (ASAMI). The site also contains a database that consumers can use to locate their nearest ASA shop. The ASA Web Site can be found at http://www.asashop.org, the site’s address.

The Automotive Service Association is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind serving more than 12,000 businesses and approximately 55,000 professionals from all segments of the automotive service industry.
