ASA Names Wage-and-Hour Attorney
Benefit Provider of the Year

BEDFORD, TEXAS, May 23, 2008 –The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has announced that the winner of the 2007 Benefit Provider of the Year Award is the Wage and Hour Attorney program conducted by Brian T. Farrington. The announcement came during ASA’s Celebration of Excellence May 3 in Santa Clara, Calif. The awards ceremony was the finale to ASA’s Annual Convention held May 1-3 in Santa Clara, Calif., at the Hyatt Regency.

The annual award was given in appreciation of Farrington’s long-term relationship with ASA and for the value, quality and professional service he offers to ASA members.

When informed of the award, Farrington said: “I have been associated with ASA since 1991, when my late associate, Harry Weisbrod, and I first entered into a retainer agreement with the organization. Since then we have advised countless members, put on a lot of speeches and seminars for local and state chapters, and have helped more than a few shops with wage-hour investigations. I have always enjoyed working with ASA’s staff as well as the membership. ASA members are decent, hard-working people who provide honest service to their customers, and jobs for lots of employees. They have to cope with a lot of rules and regulations, and it’s been a pleasure for me to be able to help them deal with the labor and employment issues they face. I look forward to many more years of working with this fine organization.”

Farrington specializes in federal wage and hour programs. He also offers two courses through the Automotive Management Institute: “Compensation Plans: What’s Right for Your Employee?” and “How Do Wage and Hour Issues Affect Me?” ASA’s 2009 convention will be held next spring in Florida; specific dates and location have not been determined. The association’s annual trade shows – the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) and the Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) – will be held during the inaugural Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW), Nov. 5-8, 2008. ASRW events will be co-located at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The Automotive Service Association is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind dedicated to and governed by independent automotive service and repair professionals. ASA serves an international membership base that includes numerous affiliate, state and chapter groups from both the mechanical and collision repair segments of the automotive service industry.
