Service Information Workshops to be Held in Pennsylvania

ASA Hosts Free Seminars Open to All Automotive Service Professionals

BEDFORD, TEXAS, June 19, 2008 – The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has announced it will host three new Service Information Workshops in Pennsylvania. ASA is committed to presenting these workshops to educate shop owners and technicians about the availability of service information to automotive repair shops. The Pennsylvania workshops will be held in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, July 8, at the Holiday Inn Select University Center; in Harrisburg on Wednesday, July 9, at the Courtyard by Marriott; and Willow Grove on Thursday, July 10, at the Courtyard Philadelphia Willow Grove. Additional information, including class times and driving directions, are available at www.ASAshop.org/KEYS/workshop_sched.htm.

“The Service Information Workshops provide tangible proof to ASA members and prospective members of ASA’s commitment to provide the industry with information and training that will enable them to meet the challenges they face in today’s marketplace,” said John Scully, ASA’s executive vice president. “A better-trained and informed shop owner is always a plus for ASA and the automotive industry.”

The educational agenda includes discussions on computers and Internet resources necessary to access service information; manufacturer and third-party Web sites; diagnostic tools that may assist in handling a repair most efficiently; and the role of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF). Attendees are encouraged to ask questions to address specific service information issues they have experienced. When space and equipment are available, these meetings may also include the opportunity for attendees to view a live vehicle reprogramming demonstration. Attendees are also eligible to participate in drawings for training videos and subscriptions to OEM service information Web sites.

ASA believes the current voluntary, industry-supported service information process protects independent repairers and consumers by allowing them access to the same information available to manufacturers and dealers. These workshops are part of ASA’s efforts to educate shop owners and technicians about current systems and how they can manage the many service information options available to them.

Additional workshops are scheduled for Rhode Island, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Florida. For specific dates, locations and times, visit www.ASAshop.org/KEYS.

The Automotive Service Association is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind dedicated to and governed by independent automotive service and repair professionals. ASA serves an international membership base that includes numerous affiliate, state and chapter groups from both the mechanical and collision repair segments of the automotive service industry. ASA’s headquarters is in Bedford, Texas.

ASA advances professionalism and excellence in the automotive repair industry through education, representation and member services. For additional information about ASA, including past news releases, go to www.ASAshop.org, or visit ASA’s legislative Web site at www.TakingTheHill.com.
