ASA Holds Annual Business Meeting in San Antonio

BEDFORD, TEXAS, April 22, 2004 - The Automotive Service Association (ASA) held its annual business meeting April 16-17 in San Antonio.

This year's gathering was shorter and more business-oriented than those of years past. ASA's annual business meeting provides a forum for several association leadership activities including an ASA affiliate assembly meeting; a board of directors meeting; a State of the Association address by Ron Pyle, ASA's president and chief staff executive; and the installation of the 2004-05 board of directors.

"ASA has a longstanding history of extraordinary leadership through its board of directors and other volunteers," said Pyle. "The newly installed board members are focused on the needs of their fellow ASA members and are committed to elevating the value of membership through the work they do during their terms."

During a luncheon April 17, Pyle delivered his State of the Association address. Pyle told attendees the future of the association looks promising and 2004 was already off to a great start. ASA continues to enhance the value of membership, is strengthening its affiliate ties and is continuing efforts to build valuable relationships with other industry associates.

Also on the agenda was ASA's new course, "You Have the Right to Repair," presented by Bill Haas, AAM, ASA's vice president, service repair markets. This course is approved by the Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and earns attendees six credits toward the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation.

The Automotive Service Association is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind, serving more than 12,000 businesses and approximately 70,000 professionals from all segments of the automotive service industry. ASA's headquarters is in Bedford, Texas.

ASA advances professionalism and excellence in the automotive repair industry through education, representation and member services. Additional information about ASA, including past news releases, is available on the ASA Web Site on the Internet (http://www.asashop.org).
