"IRS vs. Auto Repair Businesses"

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has recently been under scrutiny for its actions, however, the government agency is planning for another year of individual and company audits. To protect yourself, learn how to prepare for such an audit. This course will discuss examination guidelines and items that the specially trained IRS auditors focus their attention on when evaluating an automotive service business, as well as procedures to implement to satisfy this type of examination.

Instructor Martin W. Nye is a senior member of the accounting firm of Nye & Nye with offices in Northbrook and Chicago, Ill. The automotive service industry is one of the firm's major clientele. Nye is and has been the general chairman for many committees working in cooperation with governmental agencies, such as the IRS, the Illinois Department of Revenue, the Social Security Administration and the Small Business Administration.


"Electronic Marketing and the Automotive Service Industry"

Computers, the Internet and hi-tech products are taking small businesses into the next century. This move is apparent by the more than 50 percent of ASA members on-line. To take advantage of the ever-changing technology, owners must know the different marketing methods available. This course will teach attendees how to develop an electronic marketing strategy that will increase customer satisfaction, customer retention and better their businesses' bottom line. Step-by-step instructions will explain how to use electronic mail, web sites, electronic newsletters and client software to get and keep customers.

During his more than 20 years as an automotive maintenance professional, instructor John Peake has been involved in numerous computer-related projects. He has hosted an automotive radio talk show, made 35 television appearances, served as an advisor to the Better Business Bureau and is owner and manager of Peak Performance, Inc., in Salt Lake City, Utah. Peake has also received U.S. Congressional recognition for his Internet information development.
