"Pressure is More Than a State of Mind"
Why is it you never get to finish what you are doing? Can you survive and thrive when you are feeling the pressure to meet deadlines, to produce quality work and still satisfy all the people who are counting on your personal attention?
Some people choose to withdraw, but you can't succeed in the auto repair business without being able to keep your cool when others around you are losing theirs. What are the 10 most important things to do to handle the stress of balancing many, sometimes conflicting, priorities? Dave Schmidt shared the secrets of successful business owners and managers who have found a way to manage workplace pressures to survive and thrive.
Schmidt has been directly involved in implementing changes within independents and dealerships since 1989. He participated in the Chrysler "Customer One" and "Advanced Customer One" service initiatives and has been a keynote speaker at ASA, NACE, and CARS conventions.
Raised in the family wholesale and retail tire business, Schmidt later worked in sales with Goodyear and Western Auto and was a high school coach and principal. He turned to full-time consulting in the 1970s. Outside automotive, he regularly consults with NASA, the Space Administration, bankers, realtors and sales and marketing organizations. His clients have included General Motors, IBM, the FBI, the University of Michigan, Whirlpool and Hallmark Cards.
