Northern Autobody To Be Biennial Event
The Northern Autobody Congress & Exposition, a regional collision repair industry event, is scheduled for the northern United States in the spring of 1998. The success of this year's inaugural show in Chicago and its post-show response indicate the need for a regional event of this caliber.
G.W. "Bud" Merwin III, Automotive Service Association (ASA) president and chief staff executive, said, "Based on the strength of the collision repair industry in the northern region of the country, as well as the positive response to the first event, we believe that Northern Autobody will continue to prove to be beneficial to the industry. However, we feel the post-show results also indicate that this event will effectively serve the industry when held every two years."
Northern Autobody '96 successfully met its goal to tap into a previously unexposed market and provide exhibitors with increased market exposure. Seventy-six percent of this year's attendees had never before attended a collision repair event sponsored by ASA national. Eighty-eight percent of Northern Autobody '96 attendees came from the seven-state area of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin, with 47 percent coming from Illinois.
In a post-show telephone survey, a majority of attendees said they would attend again. A specific date and location for Northern Autobody '98 has not been announced.
