1937 marked a high point in Packard production with a wide variety of models being offered, from a six-cylinder car in the $900 price range up to 12-cylinder cars, which could run into the $6,000 range. This black 1937 Packard Twelve is on a long (144-inch) wheelbase, has a 473-cubic-inch engine rated at 175 horsepower, and was the premier offering of what many consider to be America's finest automobile manufacturer. This mostly original car, finished in DuPont nitrocellulose lacquer, is owned by Bud Juneau, the photographer whose work graces the cover of many issues of AUTOINC. It features walnut burl interior trim, wool broadcloth upholstery, power assist clutch and brakes, and at a shipping weight of 5,600 pounds, still manages 14 miles per gallon on the highway.
