Members Save Money with New ASA Benefits

Posted 10/7/1997
By Robert Anderson, AAM

During the last two months, the Automotive Service Association (ASA) has introduced several new benefits that offer tremendous savings for members. In most cases, the savings provided by the particular benefit are greater than the cost of annual dues to belong to the national association!

For members doing collision repair, ASA and Mitchell have teamed up to offer Mitchell's CD-ROM version of Collision Repair Works to members at a savings of $170. This special is available until Dec. 15. Members who already have this Mitchell product can use Mitchell Bucks to save $170 on any other Mitchell collision printed product to which they currently do not subscribe.

Through another special arrangement - this one with the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) - ASA members now receive $50 off the $295 price of I-CAR's new Uniform Procedures for Collision Repair (UPCR). Members who are I-CAR Gold Class receive an additional $50 off the cost, making their price $195 for an even greater savings. The CD-ROM product contains 70 collision repair procedures in 21 content areas. By April 1998, there will be nearly 150 procedures in 40 content areas.

ASA also has three new benefits for members doing mechanical repair. Through a partnership with ALLDATA, members receive a special price on the company's electronic repair database, which includes diagnostic and repair information, technical service bulletins and recommended automotive maintenance schedules. With this benefit, members' first-year savings are more than $1,000.

Warrantech Automotive, a vehicle inspection and warranty provider, has teamed up with ASA to offer vehicle inspections on preowned vehicles. Warrantech Automotive markets the vehicle inspection program through its network of national distributors. The Warrantech distributors then sell the vehicle inspection program to client companies, which in turn provide the service as a benefit to their employees. The national distributors will refer vehicle buyers to participating ASA member shops. Participating shops will inspect the vehicle according to the procedures outlined by Warrantech Automotive.

Members can also now purchase the Yokogawa R-12/R-134a refrigerant leak detector at a 30 percent discount off of the retail price of $460. Lastly, though not of lesser importance, we have entered into a partnership with Triad Financial to offer members an equipment leasing program. This program offers competitive leasing rates, an equipment locator service and an early buyout discount after 12 payments.

I encourage you to use these benefits and the many other ones provided by ASA. By doing this, you will get the greatest value out of your national membership and find - like so many members already have - that it pays to belong!
