Subscribers Like Identifix's Direct-Hit

Identifix, which offers online and hotline vehicle diagnostic and repair information, has announced that subscribers to the company's Direct-Hit product looked up information on more than 50,000 vehicles in a single week. The number of vehicles looked up by Direct-Hit subscribers per week has doubled in the last 12 months.

NABC to Support Toys for Tots

The National Auto Body Council (NABC) is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in support of its renowned Toys for Tots program.

New, unwrapped toys will be collected during October, November and December and distributed as Christmas gifts to children.

The spotlighted community this time is Las Vegas, which is where, of course, NACE will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 3. NABC will be working with Marine reservists in that city.

Vince Fischelli Schedules Workshops

Vince Fischelli, who owns Veejer Enterprises in Garland, Texas, has announced that he will be holding an auto/truck advanced electrical hands-on troubleshooting workshop Nov. 26-30 in Dallas.

Once attendees have completed the five-day workshop, they are eligible to attend the three-day advanced workshop, which will be held Dec. 3-7.

AutoZone Awards $10,000 Scholarship

AutoZone Inc., a leading distributor of auto parts, has announced the second annual "AutoZone Future Technician Scholarship" winners.

The firm is dividing its $10,000 automotive industry-focused scholarship among the gold, silver and bronze medal winners of the SkillsUSA National Championship Automotive Service Technology competition held recently in Kansas City, Mo.

Sharing the scholarship are the gold medal winner, Daniel Lehmkuhl of San Luis Obispo High School in San Luis Obispo, Calif.; the silver medal winner, Dan Martin of Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Kan.; and the bronze medal winner, Steve Ray of the Center for Technology in Essex Junction, Vt.

ITEC Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Industry Technicians Education Coalition (ITEC) in September marked its 10th year as a proven automotive technical education concept that is available to high-quality, college-level technical training programs in the Northwest and across the nation. It was in September of 1997 when Renton Technical College in Renton, Wash., began the first-ever ITEC two-year training program.
