ASA-Georgia Plans Membership Drive

For each new member recruited by another ASA-Georgia member, the recruiting member earns a $50 voucher toward his or her affiliate dues. Members can earn up to $200 in membership dues vouchers. "Our members hold in their possession the best-kept secret in the industry - membership in ASA," said Neva Hollins, AAM, ASA-Georgia executive director.

The membership drive runs through the end of the year. For more information, please contact Hollins at neva@asagashop.org or an ASA-Georgia board member.

ASA-Arizona Holds 2005 Sunrise Convention
Mandeville
Denny Mandeville, ASA-Arizona 2005 chairman, addresses Sunrise convention attendees.
ASA-Arizona held its annual Sunrise 2005 Convention July 8-10 in Prescott, Ariz. Attendees and sponsors enjoyed a weekend of education, training, networking and fun. The management training presented by Chubby Frederick contained many key ideas.

Technical training was presented by Leney Vautrin, Fred Hules II and Mark Warren.

The ASA-Arizona affiliate is appreciative of the event's sponsors, including Universal Underwriters, Carquest Auto Parts, NAPA Auto Parts, Merle's Automotive Supply, Tri-City Warehouse, Jasper Engines & Transmissions, SCF of Arizona, AutoZone, Interstate Batteries of Northern Arizona, Holloway Tool Company and the ASA-Grand Canyon chapter.

Several member and industry awards were bestowed by ASA-Arizona during the Saturday night banquet, including Bruce Mclaughlin's induction into the ASA-Arizona Hall of Fame. The affiliate had a difficult choice for the Member of the Year award so it presented two of its members with this high honor - Bob Jones, Quality Transmission Service Inc. in Tempe, Ariz.; and Dave Lanspeary, Dave's Auto Repair in Youngstown, Ariz.

The 2006 Sunrise convention will be held July 7-9, 2006.

NATIONAL NEWS

The ASA Ultimate Buyers Guide is an electronic resource guide of all services and products available to the automotive repair and service industry. All companies will have a generic listing that includes company name and phone number. Enhanced listings will include complete contact information, a logo, link to a Web site and listings in up to five product categories within the guide. ASA member benefit providers receive an enhanced listing as part of their benefits package. Visit the ASA booth at both CARS and NACE to receive information on ASA's newest industry benefit.

Just a reminder: ASA's new enhanced shop locator helps motorists find an ASA member shop in their local community. Motorists can search for an ASA business within a 20-mile radius of their location using a ZIP code search, shop name search, etc. So far, more than 400,000 maps have been generated through the new shop locator, proving that more and more consumers are looking to the Web to find a reliable repair facility. For more information about the enhanced listing, call the ASA Membership Department at (800) 272-7467, ext. 295.

Reminder of the Month

The ASA board of directors elections will be held Jan. 2 to Feb. 28, 2006.

These candidates are seeking election to one opening as general director, collision division director and mechanical division director.

The positions of collision and mechanical division directors are elected by their respective divisions only. Members were assigned to the appropriate divisions based on information provided by the member when they joined the association.

All regular national members in good standing with ASA are eligible to cast their vote for the position of ASA general director.
