Recently I attended a seminar conducted by the Texas Workforce Commission pertaining to labor market information in the state of Texas. There is a wealth of information regarding employment, unemployment, business openings and closing, and employment projections within industries.
All this information is available to the public on the Texas Workforce Commission Web site, www.tracer2.com. This got me thinking about other states. Each state has a workforce commission or labor department and most have information available online. The easiest way to locate the workforce commission sites is to enlist your favorite search engine and search by keywords: "(state) workforce commission" or "(state) labor department." Or give me a call at (800) 272-7467, ext. 236, and we can go through the steps together.
These sites are a valuable tool to all business and business growth. Being aware of your local economic conditions and employment trends allows for better business planning and creates an opportunity to discuss a need for training and technician development with numbers.
If you are interested in locating your state's workforce commission and up-to-date employment figures, send me an e-mail at denisec@asashop.org or give me a call and we'll get started.
