AMI Announces Management Seminars for NACE
The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) will offer six management seminars during NACE '98. Each seminar will earn attendees credits toward the Institute's Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation. The courses include "Increasing Profit by Increasing Proficiency," "Real World Estimating É Pros and Cons," "INNOVATION: Taking Your Business to the Next Level," "Integrating the Web and E-Mail into Your Business," "Compensation & Incentives É That Work," and "What is Your Business Worth?"
The primary product of a collision repair business is labor. Each labor hour lost because of poor scheduling or poor production management cannot be replaced. In the "Increasing Profit by Increasing Proficiency" seminar, attendees will learn to determine and increase a shop's capacity to produce labor through improved proficiency.
Effective management of the estimating process requires a thorough understanding of the development, use and automation of estimating data from each of the information providers. In the "Real World Estimating ... Pros and Cons" seminar, attendees will learn the writer's decision process, automation of repair cost data, displays of information and common errors for each of the major computer estimating systems.
The "INNOVATION: Taking Your Business to the Next Level" seminar will teach attendees how strategic planning creates an environment of innovation; how to incorporate innovation into your existing system; and how to communicate innovation with your customers, employees, vendors and banker.
It seems everyone has a Web site. E-mail addresses are commonplace. Futurists continually speak of the "paperless" office. So why are we drowning in paper? And isn't e-mail yet another message box to check several times a day? The "Integrating the Web and E-Mail into Your Business" seminar will teach attendees how to use their company web sites and e-mail to save money and time.
The competition for good employees is violent. In the "Compensation & Incentives ... That Work!" seminar, attendees will learn step-by-step how to put together a compensation program that will attract the superstars, keep employees motivated and save money.
The "What is Your Business Worth" seminar will discuss how to determine what your business is worth. With the emphasis and interest on consolidation, business valuating has become a "hot topic." However, valuating your business has other applications. Business valuation is essential when expanding or selling your business. It is also necessary when you want to merge with another shop and plan to sway stock. You must also determine what your business is worth of you are measuring it against similar investments or businesses (ROI), if you are considering stock option plans or splitting up a partnership.
