Welcome to NACE 2002

Posted 11/6/2002
By Dan Frohlich, Chairman

Dan Frohlich This month's issue of AutoInc. is our annual NACE issue. If you are an ASA member attending the show, please be certain to stop by the ASA booth (No. 2128) so we can personally thank you for supporting our association and our industry. If you are unable to attend the show this year, ASA publishes the official NACE online daily news. During the show, visit www.asashop.org to receive up-to-the-minute reports.

For those who pick up this magazine at the show, we extend a special invitation. Stop by the ASA booth and see how we're working to represent repair professionals. We'd be interested in learning from you the challenges you face in your shop. ASA strives to improve this industry for everyone. Let us know how we can help you.

One of the benefits of serving as ASA chairman is having the opportunity to visit with many shop owners all across the United States. I'm very excited as we prepare for NACE because so many of you have told me you're really looking forward to this year's show. I was already pretty enthused. But, after visiting with so many fellow shop owners and fellow ASA members, my enthusiasm is even higher.

I'm really proud of the expanded lineup of technical classes, especially the Spanish language classes. A full lineup of management classes, offering Automotive Management Institute credits, will allow shop owners and managers to elevate their management skills.

Jobber programs. Spouse programs. Even programs designed specifically for small shops. It may be a cliche, but there's truly “something for everyone” at NACE 2002!

This will be a special show because it marks NACE's 20th year. Having grown to more than 30,000 attendees each year, NACE is a world-class event. Talk about world class, former President George Bush will present this year's keynote and Saturday night's entertainment will be provided by none other than Bill Cosby.

Because we're in “Big D” this year, the welcome party will really be big, complete with a live rodeo! Big is also the word to describe the exposition. Nearly 2,000 booths will feature the newest products, services and technology. Come and kick tires if you want, but I encourage you to be ready to buy. Most exhibitors offer their best deals of the year at NACE.

What makes NACE truly exciting, however, are the people. There's something electric about having 30,000 collision repair professionals together at one event. I learn just as much having informal conversations with my colleagues as I do in the classroom. Many of these colleagues have become friends and are people who help me improve all areas of my business. That, to me, is the greatest thing among the many great things NACE provides.

Looking forward to seeing you in Dallas Dec. 5-8.
