Car Care Could Be Better

Posted 5/15/2007
By Karin White

Statistics from the Car Care Council's 2006 campaigns show that people don't take very good care of their vehicles. Car care maintenance is lagging behind in key areas.

Based on 851 vehicle inspections spanning 16 states during the months of April and October, there was an 88 percent failure rate.*

Here are the top failure rates:

  1. Engine oil, 30 percent
  2. Washer fluid, 28 percent
  3. Coolant, 28 percent
  4. Transmission fluid, 26 percent
  5. Air filter, 25 percent
