Race Fans, Start Your Engines!

Posted 5/15/2003
By Kevin Caldwell, Chairman

Kevin Caldwell Exposure is everything in this industry. The better exposed your automotive repair facility is to your community, the more likely you are to keep ahead of your competition. Like many of you, my experiences in the automotive industry have explicitly taught me that marketing is paramount in accomplishing any endeavor or goal I set forth for our shop.

As a member-first organization, ASA strives to expose its members to the motoring public. Consider ASA your pit crew; continually offering you better solutions to keep you ahead of the game and on track to compete in this changing market.

This is an exciting time for your association. ASA has entered a new era - an enormous leap in helping its members market themselves to their community. NASCAR, the second most popular sporting organization in America, has partnered with ASA in forming the NASCAR Performance Network. This network will be housed on NASCAR.com, which receives more than 1 billion hits a year. Enrolling your business in this program will optimize your visibility to a nationwide market of dedicated NASCAR fans. As an avid NASCAR fan myself, I can't tell you how excited I am to participate in this program!

If you attended this year's annual convention, you participated in the energy that was generated when this new program was introduced. NASCAR can certainly put on a big show. They are sincerely dedicated to providing their fans a venue to find the best in automotive repair and service. They are confident that by creating the Performance Network, their fans will have a positive repair experience at an ASA member business.

Beginning next month, NASCAR will drive consumers to the ASA shop locator with a series of commercials airing nationwide on the SPEED Channel. NASCAR will also air several tip features. I'd like to personally thank fellow ASA member Tommy Carroll, AAM, Carroll Aligning Service Company in Charlotte, N.C., for allowing NASCAR to film the commercial and tip features in his shop. The result is tremendous exposure of the ASA name and logo. I encourage all members participating in this program to proudly display the ASA sign and logo. Millions of NASCAR fans will certainly begin to recognize the red, white and blue ASA logo.

As ASA chairman and a dedicated racing fan, I'm thrilled ASA is the first organization selected by NASCAR to participate in this program. I encourage you to read the information about this new benefit throughout this issue of AutoInc. I urge you to put aside $200 from your annual marketing budget to participate in this opportunity. ASA and NASCAR are providing you with the community exposure needed to differentiate you from your competitor. ASA members are the Jeff Gordons, the Juniors, the Michael Waltrips and the Bobby Labontes of the automotive repair industry. In this race, you don't want to fall short. Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity.
