ASA-Florida announces dates of Annual Meeting

ASA-Florida will hold its first annual meeting of the new millennium May 5-7 at the Diamond Head Resort in Fort Myers Beach.

The meeting program will include exhibits of the latest technology being offered to the automotive repair industry.

In addition to the exhibits, attendees have the opportunity to participate in two Automotive Management Institute (AMI) seminars. Credits are applied toward the institute's Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation. Workshops on the requirements of the Florida Motor Vehicle Repair Act and the new standards and requirements on the use of antifreeze and recycled coolants will be discussed at length by government officials.

GreatMechanics.com CEO Jim Christopherson will also show meeting participants how the Internet can benefit them as business owners.

On Feb. 12, Cris Kuhnhausen and John Kimpton, AAM, owners of A Street Automotive and Collision in Springfield, Ore., were awarded the Art Morse Shop of the Year award by ASA-Oregon. This is the highest honor an affiliate member can receive from ASA-Oregon. The two were presented with the award during the affiliate's annual convention held Feb. 11-12 at the Westin Salisham Resort, in Gleneden Beach, Ore.

The Art Morse Shop of the Year recipients are recognized by their peers for their devotion to improving the automotive service industry, their commitment to customer relations, their involvement in industry, their continued technical and management training, as well as their support of the community.

"John and Cris, both graduates of the Management Success Automotive and Collision Shop program, are advocates for improving the image of the industry and believe that ASA's Code of Ethics should be the standard for every shop to meet and exceed," said Denis Renaud, ASA-Oregon president elect. Kimpton is currently serving as ASA-Oregon treasurer and Kuhnhausen is the ASA-Eugene chapter president.
