Multimedia

Many Web sites, like our Shop Site of the Month, are adding multimedia features to personalize their Web sites. RealPlayer, Shockwave, QuickTime and StreamWorks are kinds of video and audio players. You can download free versions of most of these applications.

To view the clip at the Freedom Automotive Web site, you will need to have the RealPlayer or another application that will play a ".ram" file. You can download a free version of the RealPlayer at the RealNetworks Web site. Be sure to download the appropriate version for your operating system and Web browser. The RealPlayer plug-in will run streaming audio and video. A plug-in is an application that will run with your Web browser. Most sites that have multimedia features will link to the site where you can download the appropriate application. Sometimes you will need to save the video or sound file on your computer and open it using your software. Other sites have multimedia features integrated into their Web site. At these sites the feature will be executed while you are in your browser if you have compatible software.

The InterneTV Web site has hundreds of audio and video clips and is a good starting place to test out multimedia applications. The Web Cam Theater site contains a directory of sites that display live camera shots. Take a look at the live view from traffic and weather cameras, or peak into classrooms, offices, zoos and other interesting places.
