The 2006 "How's Your Business?" survey allowed us to look at certain statistics by a regional breakdown. Let's examine the regional diversity that exists in collision shops regarding estimates and repair orders.

For example, more than half of the estimates in the Midwest turn into repair orders and average $1,867 per ticket. Compared with previous years, ASA members in the Midwest saw an increase in profits (30 percent), customers (33 percent) and repair orders (39 percent).

Similar to the Midwest, nearly half of the written estimates in the South turn into work orders and average $2,251 per ticket. Compared with previous years, 31 percent of ASA members in the South report an increase in profits while 44 percent report an increase in customers and repair orders.

In the Northeast, 80 percent of the estimates written turn into work orders and average $2,119 per ticket. Compared with previous years, 27 percent of ASA members in the Northeast showed an increase in profits while 40 percent saw an increase in customers and 29 percent saw an increase in repair orders.

In the West, 70 percent of the estimates written turn into repair orders and average $2,513 per ticket. ASA members in the West saw a 48 percent increase in profits, customers and repair orders.
