Cadillac's first new body after World War II came out in 1948. It featured the stylish “fishtail” rear fender/ The next year, an all-new overhead valve, 331-cubic-inch, V-8 engine put the finishing touch on one of the most powerful, smooth and reliable Cadillacs ever built. Sales boomed. Of 92,000 Cadillacs sold, more that 37,000 were the Series 62 sedan seen on the cover. The car rode on a 126-inch wheelbase and featured wool broad-cloth interiors, as well as simulated grain on interior garnish molding, and offered the optional Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. This low mileage, original car was freshened up by Richard Lovejoy. The two-tone gray 1949 Cadillac sedan still has its perfect, original interior and usually wins “first place#148; when shown.
