I Look Forward to Serving YouPosted 6/25/2007By Aaron Clements, AAM, Chairman
It seems like only yesterday I attended my first national meeting of the Automotive Service Association. Of course, it was actually several years ago. Attending a national meeting was a natural progression after having held many state and local positions. Going back in time to my first meeting, I recall being happily surprised when the other members gladly listened to my ideas and even implemented some of them. Right away, they made me feel comfortable voicing my opinion. I also remember that the staff and members of the board were truly concerned about our industry. These were men and women who deeply cared about the future of the automotive repair field. Quickly, I realized that if I desired to make a difference in this industry, this was definitely the place to be. During that first meeting, fellow members asked me questions that furthered my yearning to get more involved. One member asked me to name some things we could do as an association to assist our members. Some of the ideas I mentioned were already being addressed. Others had been attempted recently with less success than anticipated. Other ideas I pointed out that day were later employed and did, indeed, benefit our members. I would now like to ask you the same question - to list any and all items that you feel could benefit other members and yourself, or better the association in general. While not all ideas can be used, they will all be considered. I want all members to recognize that their ideas are valuable to ASA, and they should feel free to express them. You may e-mail your ideas to me at aaron@ccautomotive.com. The ability of members to get involved, make suggestions and actively participate is imperative to the success of ASA. I want you to feel confident about voicing your opinions, knowing that your association will gladly listen to them. My hopes are that this will lead you to get more involved and ask other members to get more involved as well. After all, there is strength in numbers! Once again, I wish to express my gratitude for the great opportunity to represent you as your chairman. I look forward to serving each of you. Thank you!
