'How's Your Business?' Estimations CorrectedPosted 7/17/2006By Karin White When the Automotive Service Association asks its members, "How's Your Business?," automotive service and repair industry professionals take notice! Published each year in the December issue of AutoInc., the benchmark article is circulated to the magazine's readers worldwide. In addition to hard copies, the current and previous annual articles can be found on the ASA Web sites - www.ASAshop.org and www.autoinc.org - and on ASA OnDemand, a software program that can be downloaded from www.ASAOnDemand.com. As some numbers are estimations, they will be corrected with time. In the introduction to the mechanical sector, the estimated number of employees has been adjusted to 325,530 from the 339,170 published in the December 2005 "How's Your Business?" article. The estimated number of collision employees noted in the collision introduction section has been adjusted to 249,401 from 226,178. In the same section, the estimated number of vehicle collisions is amended from 24 million to 20.4 million. In the staff profile section of the collision report, the average wage for an entry-level technician is amended from $33,299 to $27,156 annually and entry-level painter average wages corrected from $34,064 to $28,134. We look forward to publishing member responses to ASA's 2006 "How's Your Business?" survey in December.
