ASA Testifies at CARB Hearing
Prior to the hearing, ASA urged its California membership to attend the CARB hearing to show opposition for the proposed regulatory changes to current emission warranty regulations. ASA is concerned that any expansion of the vehicle warranty status will negatively impact independent repairers economically in the state of California. In the past, ASA has opposed California warranty expansion initiatives.
State Publishes Car Emission Regulation
The Pennsylvania State House of Representatives failed to vote on legislation prior to ending its 2006 session that would have allowed Pennsylvania to follow less rigid vehicle emissions restrictions. Pennsylvania was the 11th state to adopt the California rule. Others include: Oregon, Washington, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.
Missouri Senate Bill to Repeal Safety Inspection Program
In the previous Congress, state Sen. David G. Klindt, R-District 12, offered an amendment to Sen. John E. Greisheimer's, R-District 26, legislation, S. 583. This amendment would have repealed all safety inspections for vehicles in Missouri. Although Greisheimer's legislation passed, Klindt's amendment was not included.
