By Levy Joffrion Greg Sommers Wins Toolbox Greg Sommers of Arizona Auto Institute in Phoenix was the lucky winner of a Snap-on toolbox given away Nov. 3 during Industry Week in Las Vegas. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and Snap-on Tools teamed up to co-sponsor the drawing for the toolbox. The drawing was open to qualified Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS) and Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) attendees. Entrants had to be ASE-certified or be a student attending an ASE-certified NATEF career and technical school or college.
Mitchell 1 Adds Call Tracking Feature Mitchell 1 has added a Call Tracking Services (CTS) feature to its Customer Retention Marketing (CRM) program to help participating shops track marketing and capture actionable information on every phone call. Shops that use the CTS feature will know who's calling, where they're coming from, how well the shop staff is taking care of their customers and how to reconnect with them if necessary.
I-CAR Tells How to Host Fundraiser The I-CAR Education Foundation has released a video serving as an online source on how to host a fundraising golf tournament. These golf tournaments are designed to help I-CAR volunteer committees raise funds for career and technical schools and colleges as well as the Education Foundation. Golf tournaments support the Foundation's mission to attract entry-level candidates and assist in preparing them for careers in the collision industry. By working with the Foundation, the funds raised from golf tournaments benefit local career and technical schools and colleges by providing them with much-needed assistance in the form of curriculum, props, consumables and simulators, as well as scholarships.
DuPont Offers New Color Selector DuPont Hot Hues has introduced a new color selector of 48 candy and pearlescent colors designed for the custom finishes industry. The one-page candy color chip selector features a candy color over Hot Hues factory package basecoat colors. The one-page pearl selector shows each pearl color over a red and a black. The candy selector shows how easily Hot Hues basecoats can be used with the Hot Hues candy dyes to create vibrant custom colors. The pearl selector shows the color effects that result from the use of 12 pearl and xirallic additives over Hot Hues basecoats firecracker and blackened. "These color tools are designed for Hot Hues distributors to show their customers a palette of custom colors and special effect finishes so they select the best color for their vehicle," said Janine Little, Hot Hues marketing manager.
NABC Honors Brandon Eckenrode Brandon Eckenrode, senior marketing communications specialist for I-CAR, was one of three 2006 PRIDE Award recipients honored Oct. 31 in Las Vegas at the Industry Night of Achievement. Every year the National Auto Body Council (NABC) recognizes industry members who perform exceptional humanitarian and benevolent acts of kindness. Eckenrode participated in the 2006 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon in October. He raised almost $5,000 in sponsorship funds for Deborah's Place, a Chicago area shelter for homeless women. He also raised money for the Schaumburg police department. And he also volunteers as a Schaumburg Snow Angel, shoveling driveways and sidewalks for the elderly and disabled.
