ASE Introduces Techs' Career File

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has introduced the ASE Career File, an industrywide, database-driven resource for automotive service technicians. The ASE Career File is comprised of a directory of automotive in-service training providers, a course catalog of the training courses, a centralized database of automotive technician training histories, and a consolidated transcript service for technicians.

It is designed to enhance a technician's professional development by creating a centralized location for recognizing training and certification achievements at www.asecareerfile.org.

It's Time for ASA Members to Vote!

ASA members can vote anytime between Jan. 14 and Feb. 28 for two general director positions for the Automotive Service Association board of directors.

But don't fret. It'll be easy. And we promise it won't be like the recent presidential election. You won't have to worry about chads, dimples, recounts, etc., because your ASA voting process is conducted electronically.

It's simple, quick and easy. All you have to do is pick up a phone and follow instructions.

Since 1994, the Automotive Service Association has used an independent information services company to conduct its electronic voting process. ASA national members cast their vote by calling a toll-free number and using a Touch-Tone telephone. Members are instructed to enter their membership number and a randomly selected confidential three-digit security number. These numbers are printed on the mailing labels of three consecutive issues of AutoInc. magazine, the official publication of ASA.

The independent information services company strictly controls the toll-free number and tabulation of the votes. Upon closing of the elections, ASA is provided with the election results that are certified by a notary public. The certified results are given to the ASA chairman of the board at which time the chairman contacts each candidate with these results. If all candidates are in agreement, the final results are posted on the ASA Web site within the Members Only section.

The electronic voting method is used to elect the following ASA board positions: three positions of general directors; the mechanical division director; and the collision division director. The three positions of affiliate directors are elected during the Affiliate Assembly held each year during ASA's Annual Convention.

A notice of the candidates was published in the October 2000 issue of AutoInc.
