Holiday Season Means Increased TravelPosted 1/20/2000By Denise Caspersen
The 1999 holiday season has come to a close and an estimated 45.2 million travelers have returned home. That adds up to a lot of wear and tear on a lot of vehicles. So now it's time for Automotive Service Association (ASA) repair shops to do what they do best: get those vehicles back in shape. Now is a great time to remind individuals to change their oil, rotate their tires, and check their belts and hoses. Often, travelers will try and get the most out of their oil and delay a change until after the seasonal road trip. This could be a great opportunity for 95 percent of ASA mechanical shops that find other seasons to be their busiest. Only 5 percent of ASA mechanical shops reported winter as their busiest season, according to ASA's 1999 How's Your Business survey. Other revenue opportunities for both ASA collision shops and mechanical shops are winter car detailing offers. According to Auto Laundry News, 67 percent of car wash business occurs in the winter. Why not gain some of that revenue for yourself, while providing a needed service to your customers? With an average detail job costing $95, it's worth your consideration. Have a great 2000 and let me know if I can be of any assistance.
