I-CAR UPCR Project Features Industry Input
Input from all segments of the collision industry is being reviewed to ensure the accuracy of the new I-CAR Uniform Procedures for Collision Repair (UPCR). Each procedure is being reviewed at least twice by a "Canvass Committee" before its release. The committee will determine if the procedure steps are complete and technically accurate."Because the procedures are being developed as industry-accepted, it's important that we have a broad and equal representation from all industry segments making up our Canvass Committee," said Jeff Silver, I-CAR executive vice president. "Although the review process slows the development slightly, it's necessary to provide accurate information."
More than 500 individuals have already volunteered for the Canvass Committee. They will review more than 200 procedures in 38 subject areas during the next year and a half.
Uniform Procedures for Collision Repair outline industry-accepted, uniform repair processes for technicians, insurers, suppliers, vehicle makers, educators and others. They enable the collision industry to produce uniform, safe, quality repairs for the customer. The procedures are an easy-to-use reference source that will be revised and updated with the latest, most accurate repair information. For more information on how to be involved with the review process, call Cindy Landwehr at 1-800-TECH-990 (832- 4990).
