Schools Need Funding, Support

The I-CAR Education Foundation's 2006 school survey revealed that lack of funds is the biggest issue confronting career and technical schools and colleges today. A full 40.9 percent of schools surveyed are seriously affected by this problem. In addition, lack of support from school administration and local employers is another key area threatening schools today. Greg Brink, a collision repair instructor at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill., agrees. "It is important that the collision industry supports collision repair programs. Many schools are closing programs or not funding them properly. We need help from the industry so we can train future technicians with the skills needed today." Clark Plucinski of True2Form Collision Centers and chairman of the Education Foundation board of trustees, said: "Whether you are a repairer, insurer, auto manufacturer or supplier to this industry, the schools and young people they teach need your help."
