AutoInc. CoverPackard had made some of the finest cars in America, so it was a natural choice for the wealthy Reno/Sparks, Nev., fire district to buy the best for its chief in 1954. This 1954 Packard Pacific hardtop is equipped with a 359-cubic-inch, L-head straight eight engine and Packard's Ultramatic automatic transmission (the first with direct-drive lockup, now an industry standard). It rode on a 122-inch wheelbase and was modified with dual batteries and a heavy-duty generator to accommodate the extra lights and siren. This mostly original example has been saved and preserved by John Fuller.
