ASA-Michigan Begins Training Program
ASA-Michigan has started an On-the-Job-Training program to help combat the low number of entry-level technicians in the automotive service industry. The group developed a committee a little over a year ago to implement the program. The committee has been meeting every month since its inception, interviewing prospective employees and recruiting more ASA members to become involved. ASA members who are participating agree to the following requirements: pay trainees $300 per week plus the same benefits provided to other employees; follow the curriculum as outlined by the committee; pay for any outside training costs; the program will run two years for each employee hired; and hire the employee as a collision technician trainee. In early February, six employers interviewed more than 20 candidates with three of the candidates being hired.

The program is ongoing for the committee and affiliate members. For more information, contact ASA-Michigan, (313) 427-0750.
