BP Amoco Searching for Top Technician

BP Amoco is searching for the top independent automotive technician in America. The grand prize winner will take home $25,000, a year's worth of Amoco Ultimate premium fuel and will be named an Amoco Ultimate spokesperson for 2007.

If you are an outstanding technician or know someone who consistently provides quality service to his or her customers, then enter or urge that person to enter. But BP will only accept entries until Aug. 11, so hurry!

I-CAR Online Offers Virtual Classroom

The Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) now offers a Virtual Classroom for those who just can't get to an I-CAR training site. You can take I-CAR training from the privacy of your own home or office and earn Gold Class and Platinum points without spending a fortune on gasoline.

Among benefits are the opportunity for questions and answers with a live instructor, immediate test results through online testing, and unique content relating to recent developments in collision repair technologies.

All you need to attend an I-CAR Virtual Training session is a high-speed Internet connection and a separate phone line. For more information, visit www.i-car.com.

NATEF Becomes Certified eBay Charity

The National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) is now listed in the nonprofit directory for the eBay Giving Works program (http://givingworks.ebay.com).

eBay Giving Works is the dedicated program for charity listings on eBay, enabling sellers to help causes by listing an item on eBay and donating some or all of the proceeds to a nonprofit organization.

You Can Still Register for ASE Tests

Aug. 15 is the last day to register for the summer ASE computer-based tests (CBT). You can register by calling (800) 525-6929 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Central Time) Monday through Friday, or between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Testing will be conducted through Aug. 22.

Computer-based tests are delivered at secure, proctored testing centers throughout the United States to ensure reliability of the tests. They are not available over the Internet.

Online registration for the November ASE paper-and-pencil testing is also now open. The deadline to register is Sept. 30. Candidates can register for the fall paper-and-pencil testing online at www.ase.com.
