ASA Celebration of Excellence, AMI Graduation to be Held During 2008 Annual Convention

Posted 4/1/2008

ASA's 2008 Annual Convention will be held May 1-3 at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, Calif. Among the highlights of the event will be ASA's annual Celebration of Excellence - a special evening function dedicated to honoring the achievements of ASA members. AutoZone is sponsoring ASA's Celebration of Excellence this year, which will take place Saturday, May 3, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

"Each year at this time it's a privilege to be able to honor and congratulate the many individuals who support ASA and this industry," said Ron Pyle, ASA president and chief staff executive. "ASA's Celebration of Excellence is one of the highlights of our annual convention, and the Santa Clara area will provide the perfect setting for this special event."

Award presentations will include communicator of the year, humanitarian, legislative, division awards, affiliate of the year, largest affiliate delegation, benefit provider, Automotive Management Institute (AMI) recognition and graduation ceremony, as well as the Chairman's Award of Excellence.

The Celebration of Excellence is included in the annual convention registration, complete with dinner and a dessert reception afterwards. Anyone not registered for the annual convention can purchase tickets for $75 per person. Attire for the evening is semiformal, black tie optional.

The annual convention agenda will also include the ASA board of directors meeting; a State of the Association address by Ron Pyle, ASA president and chief staff executive; an affiliate assembly meeting; a mechanical and collision division parts forum and two AMI-approved courses. An optional tour of Winchester Mansion is also available.

Online registration is now open and will remain open until April 20 at www.ASAshop.org/Annual08. Attendees may use the secure online form to register for management seminars and housing accommodations. The Web site also has additional details about networking functions and the optional tour.

In addition to dinner and the awards presentation, Celebration of Excellence will include the swearing-in ceremony of ASA's new board of directors. The night will conclude with an AMI dessert reception.
