According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and ASA's annual "How's Your Business?" (HYB) survey, collision repair hourly wages are on the rise. BLS reports hourly collision wages reached $18.23 in 2005, a notable 12.5 percent increase from 1999. The HYB? survey results support BLS figures.

The BLS 2006-2007 Occupation Outlook Handbook shows collision repairer employment changes between 2004 and 2014 are expected to grow about 9 percent to 17 percent. Key indicators of employment opportunities and competition for jobs are the nation's growing population, number of vehicles on the road, salvage rates and vehicle longevity.
