ASA Helps Soldiers in Iraq

The International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) has announced that Valspar Corp., a longtime exhibitor and industry partner, will celebrate the company's 200th anniversary this year - while House of Kolor, a division of Valspar, celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Valspar has been an exhibitor at NACE since 1987. "Valspar considers NACE to be the best venue to stage the biggest selling opportunity of the year, both nationally and worldwide," said Joe Hart, group vice president, Valspar Automotive Group.

CAWA Celebrating Its 50th Year

The California/Nevada Automotive Wholesalers Association (CAWA) is celebrating its 50th year anniversary of service to its members and the automotive aftermarket industry.

Established in 1955 by 26 jobbers throughout California, the Association continues to provide services to members in California and Nevada and the automotive aftermarket industry throughout the nation.

I-CAR Creates Advisory Committee

I-CAR has created a new Canadian Advisory Committee to help it expand collision repair training in Canada.

The inaugural committee meeting was held in November 2004, and there was a clear consensus for the need to support I-CAR training in Canada. Members of the advisory committee represent a wide spectrum of the Canadian collision industry, including insurers and repairers.

Scholarships Open to Female Students

From the Car Care Council Women's Board comes word that applications for its 2005 scholarships can be downloaded from http://women.carcare.org.

The Women's Board awards scholarships to female students who are pursuing education to prepare them for a career in the automotive aftermarket. There is a $1,000 scholarship and two $500 scholarships open to female students who have completed one year in an ASE-certified, postsecondary automobile technology program. In addition, there are two $500 scholarships open to female high school seniors who plan on attending an ASE-certified, postsecondary automobile technology program.

Governors Proclaim Car Care Month

The Car Care Council has announced that the governors of Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada and South Carolina have recently signed proclamations officially declaring April 2005 as National Car Care month.

More and more states are realizing the importance of the Be Car Care Aware campaign and National Car Care Month, said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council.

The proclamations urge motorists to Be Car Care Aware by inspecting their vehicles and performing maintenance necessary to ensure their vehicles are operating in a safe, efficient and clean manner.
