This 1972 Super Beetle convertible Volkswagen, owned by Doug Danuser of Huntington Beach, Calif., was redone in a year-long project. Every nut and bolt was removed, refurbished and replaced. It is powered by a new 1600cc engine, with German parts throughout. The top portion of the engine, including the carburetor, distributor and coil, is completely original. Everything was rebuilt, cleaned up or powdercoated. The finish includes a sealer coat, binder coats, etching primer coat, a primer filler coat, a tint primer sealer and, finally, three coats of Porsche Guards Red and two coats of clear.

This showstopper has garnered several first-place finishes in the annual spring VW Jamboree near Danuser's Southern California home.
