ASA's Collision Division subcommittees have been established to focus on specific industry issues and /or to work with other industry related entities such as: vehicle manufacturers,
insurance vendors, recyclers, parts manufacturers, information providers,
paint companies and others that affect the estimating and repair process.
The subcommittees may also be appointed to maintain industry relations
in areas of legislation, environment, education, or any other area that may
affect the collision repair industry.
Collision Division Operations Committee members are appointed to serve on subcommittees by the division director and subcommittee chairperson.
Automobile Manufacturer - Dan Bailey, chair: The purpose of the Auto Manufacturer subcommittee is to address areas relating to Auto Manufacturers and OEM processes. Currently this team is looking at repairability of vehicles at the design level and the affects this has on vehicle totals. In the recent past, the team contacted all major vehicle manufacturers, to determine the OEM certification requirements for collision shops. The overall goal of this ASA team is to relate with and relay information to vehicle manufacturers.
Crash Parts - Ron Nagy, AAM, chair: The purpose of the Crash Parts Subcommittee is to address areas relating to certified parts, non-certified parts, aftermarket parts and recycled parts. Members of the ASA Crash Parts Subcommittee currently participate with CAPA, the United Recyclers Group (URG) and the Automotive Recycler’s Association (ARA). Reconditioned wheels, total losses, purchasing systems and proper identification of parts are areas the team is focusing on.

Currently, ASA has representatives on all the major estimating systems and participates actively with the CIC Database Task Force and the joint Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) project.
