Members Connect with ASA Communities

Got a question or a point of discussion you’d like to address to other ASA members? Are you a burgeoning blogger, but not sure where to get started? Do you have a project you need to get off the ground, but don’t have a dedicated space for collaboration with others?

ASA provides you with the tools to do this and more within the secure walls of its online Communities section. Exclusive to ASA members, the ASA Communities section of ASAshop.org provides users with the chance to network, share and even debate industry issues. So let’s take a look at all the Communities has to offer, as well as how you can begin participating.

After you are logged in, select the Communities link in the main blue navigation bar, and you’ll be presented with all the active communities you can visit. Let’s browse through the ASA Members Community, which is available to all ASA members.

The ASA Members Community houses a number of items, including the Collision Division and Mechanical Division newsletters, personal blogs, a member forum, a resource library and a wiki collaboration area.

Any community member can post a topic for discussion in the forums. We’ve organized this forum into more traditional areas of conversation – affiliates and chapters, associate members, education and general news, to name a few. Members can also subscribe to the forum, a section or a specific post; they receive an email every time a post is added or when someone replies to a topic.

The blog section allows any member to create his or her own personal area, allowing the author to post thoughts, writings, pictures, etc., and it allows other members to comment on the posts. The wiki collaboration area allows members of the community to post and edit articles; this allows a group to work on a project across hundreds, even thousands, of miles.
